well there is a tad bit more to it. Logo design is a science and needs to have a lot of thought put into how others perceive it. A few questions I would ask them to answer are....
who is your target audience?
This allows me to gain an understanding of the demographics I will be designing for and what design style i'll use.
what colors do you want incorporated in your logo?
Color schemes are very important and if the client doesn't have one lined up you can play around with different color combinations until you find one that works.
where is your business located?
Business location allows me to find out if the business is in the city, suburbs, or even a rural area and this will determine how I will design my logo since it has to appeal to that demographic.
what does your business do?
This can give us of ideas of symbolism that we can integrate into our logo that will describe their company.
These are just a couple of questions you might ask when designing a logo.
